Join us for a day of exploring Maxwell Street history!
Join Jane Addams Hull-House Museum for a day of exploring Maxwell St. history through artifacts from the Hull-House and Maxwell St. Foundation collections, tours, food, music, and conversations with neighbors. This collaborative event is presented by Hull-House and its West Side neighbors Maxwell St. Foundation and Connecting4Communities. This program is a part of the Making the West Side project at Hull-House, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities that brings together scholars, activists, neighborhood residents and other stakeholders to explore the histories of neighborhood change on Chicago’s West Side.
10-11:30am-Maxwell St. walking tour led by Maxwell St. Foundation (Meet in the Maxwell St. cul-de-sac, 1/2 block west of Halsted)
12-3pm-Open House in Hull-House courtyard featuring live music from Low-reen and the Maxwell St Blues Band, Vienna Beef sausages and other market inspired refreshments and Maxwell St. artifacts
1-2pm- Public Tour of Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
3-4pm- Storytelling and comments from partners & neighbors
