Radical Mending Workshop: Paired Repair

  • Jane Addams Hull-House Museum 800 South Halsted Street Chicago, IL, 60607 United States (map)

As a part of programming for the exhibition Radical Craft: Arts Education at Hull-House 1889-1935, the Hull-House Museum is partnering with The WasteShed to present a three-part workshop series, “Radical Mending.” The final installment is “Paired Repair,” mending workshop where visitors can repair an item for a friend, sibling, partner-anyone they love! Mending items for loved ones can be a radical act of care, join this workshop to work alongside others and share in the act of community love.

The goal of these workshops is to foster space for connection, to encourage sustainable everyday practices, and to educate one another in the history of the garment industry both past and present. Visitors can join any workshop, but those new to the craft are strongly encouraged to attend “Mending Basics.” This series will take place in the Residents’ Dining Hall at the Hull-House Museum. The cost of admission is $22 and includes materials and a meal.
