Hull-o-ween Ghostly Tales and Silent Film Festival

  • Jane Addams Hull-House Museum 800 South Halsted Street Chicago, IL, 60607 United States (map)

Sunday, October 27th
1pm-4pm

Join us for a special day of spooky stories, ghostly poetry, and silent horror films from the era of Jane Addams. Our team of educators will unearth the haunted histories of Hull-House—past and present— and feature screenings of two films from the 1920s. Popcorn and candy provided! We’ll be joined by Poems While You Wait, whose poets create poems-on-demand using their iconic typewriters. Come for an hour or stay the whole afternoon.

Films (in the Residents’ Dining Hall)

  • 1pm - The Phantom of the Opera (1925)
In this silent horror classic, aspiring young opera singer Christine Daaé discovers that she has a mysterious admirer intent on helping her become a lead performer.

  • 2:45 pm - Nosferatu (1922)
An early, unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, this eerie film tells the story of the terrifying vampire Count Orlok and his pursuit of a new residence...and new victims.
