How does one find spontaneity and playfulness with daily demands and social and political pressures? Living unscripted, subversive lives can help us to take chances and break from conventions that may stifling us. How can improv improve our genuine and authentic interactions with one another?
Join Jane Addams Hull-House Museum for a theater and performing arts workshop led by the improvisational group, Red Light School District. Participants will explore historical and contemporary practices of performance that include theater games, performance and improvisational exercises. This workshop is inspired by the 75-year history of the Hull-House Theater, credited with establishing the “American Little Theater Movement“ and launching the Hull-House Players in 1906. Hull-House Theater produced hundreds of performances, supported amateur actors including adults and children, playwrights, and provided access to theater for immigrant communities on Chicago’s West Side.
